एक छोटंसं खेडेगाव. शांत वातावरण लोक आपापसात एका प्रेमाच्या धाग्याने बांधलेले. या धाग्याचा दुआ होता येथील देवस्थान ” श्री सिद्धेश्वर मंदिर”. या देवस्थान मुळे घराघरात शांती होती. काही आपापसात वाद असले तरी लोक देवाची शपथ घेऊन मिटवत.खूप कमी वेळा गावात पोलीस येत.
               एक दिवस अचानक याच देवालयात चोरी होते. रात्रीच्या देवाची मूर्ती पासून सर्व सोने चांदीचे दागिने चोरीला जातात. गावातील प्रत्येक माणूस मंदिरात जमतो.
                    ” ना कोणाच्या घरी चूल पेटते, “ना कोणी शांत जीवाने बसत.” पोलिस येतात सर्व माहिती घेतात पण तरीही सगळ्या गावात जसा काळोख पसरतो. घराघरात बायका देव पाण्यात ठेवून प्रार्थना करतात. चार दिवस,पाच दिवस असे सरतात. दररोज गावातील तरुण पोलीस स्टेशनला जाऊन चौकशी करत पण सर्व व्यर्थ.
                    पण, एक दिवस “दुरिताचे तिमिर जावो ” त्याप्रमाणे देव गावातील एका वयोवृद्ध व्यक्तीच्या स्वप्नात येऊन सांगतो की, ” माझ्या अंगावर तेलाचा भस्मचा थर चढलाय मला त्यातून मुक्त करा. ”
          दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी गावात मिटिंग घेऊन “मूर्तीवरील तेलाचा भस्मचा थर काढण्यासाठी काम चालू झाले” पहिल्या दिवशी काहीच नाहीं दिसले पण तरीही गावाकऱ्यांनी काम चालूच ठेवले, दुसऱ्या दिवशी कोरताना मूर्तीची झलक दिसली. आणि मग श्री सिद्धेश्वर आणि जोगेश्वरी च्या सुंदर काळ्या पाषानातील जागृत मूर्ती स्पष्ट दिसू लागल्या.
       प्रत्येकजण मंदिरात येऊन मूर्ती पाहू लागला माहेरवाशिनी सुद्धा आल्या गावात मोठा उत्सव साजरा झाला
“चोरीला गेले ते फक्त सोन्या चांदीचे मुखवटे गेले,”पण माझा देव देव्हाऱ्यात आहे”. “दुरितांचे तिमिर जावो” त्याप्रमाणे देवानेच स्वतःचे अस्तित्व दाखवून दिले.
