ओंजळीतील नाती
नयनतारामध्ये राहायला आले आणि शेजारी मीरा काकू भेटल्या. त्यांच्या घराचं दार कायम उघडं असायचं, जसं त्यांच्या मनाचं. कुणीही आलं तरी रिकाम्या पोटी परत जायचं नाही, हे त्यांचं ठरलेलं. नातं, ओळख, आपलं-परकं असा भेद नव्हताच. सगळ्यांना त्या आपलंसं करत.
स्त्री म्हणून मला ते फार जवळचं वाटायचं. कारण आपणही आयुष्यभर असंच देत राहतो
वेळ, माया, काळजी आणि कधीकधी स्वतःलाच विसरतो.
काही दिवसांनी काकूंचा अपघात झाला. हॉस्पिटलमध्ये मला वाटलं, काकूंनी जमवलेली माणसं आता धावून येतील. पण तसं झालं नाही. खरंच थांबणारी, काळजी घेणारी माणसं फारच मोजकी होती. बाकी फक्त कोरडी सहानुभूती होती.
मनात खूप खंत दाटून आली. काही दिवसांनी मी ते काकूंना सांगितलं. त्यांनी माझा हात अलगद धरला. त्यांच्या डोळ्यांत मला फक्त शांतता दिसत होती.
त्या म्हणाल्या,
